
The 2027 NUS Singapore Story Prize did, for the first time, accept a non-print press work that jumps into Singapore’s story. These include videos, documentaries, opera and more.
Potential editions of the NUS Singapore History Prize did next alternative between books and non-print multimedia functions every three years.
In a speech, Associate Professor Joey Long, head of the FASS Department of History, said: “We strongly support our donor’s conviction that Singaporeans you know a lot more about Singapore’s rich history from various methods. These include documentaries, films, visual arts, performing arts, installation art, podcasts, and videos ( excluding audiobooks, books in printed form, and e-books ).
” As such, we are glad that the Prize has now been expanded to accept works beyond books, which also reflects NUS’ responsibility to develop a thorough understanding of Singapore’s past through available and present platforms. ”
