
Most parts of India may experience extreme heat this summertime with above ordinary temperatures expected across most of the land, its climate department has said.
Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, commander of the India Meteorological Department, said some states may experience more heat time than usual this time.
Many states now reported regular regular minimal temperatures above regular by 1-3C in February.

In 2024, India recorded its hottest evening at 50.5C on 28 May in northern Rajasthan country’s Churu area. The country’s health department attributed 143 murders to heatwaves between 1 March and 20 June.
Independent experts, however, believe the country is under counting the deaths caused by extreme heat. The Heat Watch 2024 report said 733 deaths due to heatstroke were reported across 17 states between March and June 2024.
This time, says like Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha could see as some as 10 to 11 heat time, Mr Mohapatra said in a press conference on Monday.
” From April to June, most pieces of north and east India, northern India, and the prairies of north-west India are expected to experience two-to-four more heat days than normal”, he added.
Last month, Mr Mohapatra had warned that heatwaves in India could be a more ordinary event if actions wasn’t taken to address the serious conditions.
India is the world’s fourth largest emitter of greenhouse gases, relying heavily on fuel to produce power for its wants.
” People activities, increasing people, urbanization and transport systems are leading to improved concentration of carbon dioxide, methane and chloro-carbons”, Mr Mohapatra had said next month.
” We are endangering not only ourselves, but likewise our future years”.
