BMA wants quake safety reports filed

Owners of high-rise buildings, especially those in Bangkok, are asked to inspect their buildings and submit a report on their safety within two weeks by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ( BMA ).

Owners are being urged to integrate with auditors to determine whether the buildings need repairs or any conditioning work, according to Bangkok government Chadchart Sittipunt.

According to him, the report should be made available in the next two days so that people can return to the properties in the wake of Friday’s disaster in a safe and confident manner.

For submitting an assessment report, City Hall has provided an online connection and a QR password.

According to the BMA, owner’s name, address, name of the qualified investigator, inspector’s opinions on the property’s security, along with any other recommendations on security standards, should be included.

Structures taller than 23 meters, large-scale structures with a total area of 10, 000 square meters or more, and buildings with 1, 000 square meters or larger and housing for 500 or more would require an immediate health evaluation.

Music rooms and theaters, as well as hotels with 80 or more rooms, need checks.

Entertainment establishments with 200 or more square meters, flats with 2, 000 square meters of place or more, a stock with more than a ground floor and space with 5, 000 square meters or more, as well as banners raised 15 meters or higher and signboards installed on rooftops are included.

Additionally, the BMA has requested that crane users check their products.
