Singapore Red Cross pledges S0,000 to support Myanmar, Thailand quake relief

More than 150 people were killed and hundreds injured in a massive earthquake that hit Myanmar and Thailand on Friday, with scores more trapped inside fell buildings and an increase in the death toll.

Northwest of the city of Sagaing in northern Myanmar was struck by a thin 7.7-magnitude vibration in the first day, which was followed shortly by a 6.4%-magnitude shockwave.

In Thailand, a 30-storey building under construction hundreds of kilometers away from the earthquake flattened buildings, broken bridges, and cracked roads.

The head of a remote, isolated Myanmar, in the hold of a civil war, issued a unique appeal for international assistance while the entire level of the catastrophe is still undetermined.

144 people had been killed, with 732 proved injuries, according to Junta main Min Aung Hlaing, but warned that the death toll was “likely to fall.”

In Thailand, eight incidents have already been confirmed, with more to come soon.
