The High Court on Friday ( Mar 28 ) handed down a man who repeatedly sexually abused his stepdaughter when she was between the ages of 13 and 14 to receive 25 years in prison and the maximum of 24 cane strokes.
The 30-year-old male denied having any sexual relations with her and claimed test to eight counts of murder, including two counts of sexual abuse involving penetration.
On February 26, he was found guilty of five counts of murder and two counts of sexual abuse by insertion, but he was spared of the second charge of rape.  ,

Justice Mavis Chionh delivered her sentence on Friday, blaming the scenario for several worsening aspects, with the most severe being the accused’s “brazen victimization” of the confidence he held as the defendant’s father in carrying out numerous sexual assaults on the young and vulnerable target.  ,
She also viewed the accused’s unwillingness to make false accusations against the officers as an aggravating factor.  ,
The person claimed that he had made a false statement because he thought his daughter was being detained by the police. He asserted that his baby should be held accountable by the authorities for telling lies.  ,
WHAT HAPPENED
The target and her family lived in a one-room apartment until the end of 2017 or 2018, according to court records. In 2020, he wed the defendant’s mother.  ,
The target perceived the survivor as a father figure, and the man and the sufferer were close friends.  ,
When the survivor was alone in the level at the time of the sexual assault, he sexually assaulted her, who was then 13 years old, in March 2021.
On at least five more times, he continued to sexually abuse her. He was 26 years old at the time of the instances.
According to court records, he would wait for his wife to leave the house before sexually assaulting the victim, which would typically take place on Saturday evenings or during the school vacations, when the defendant’s woman would be at work.
When the survivor told two of her school associates about the physical attack, more information about the physical assaults surfaced in late September 2021.
She even told her former professor, who informed the vice-principal of the situation, that she had gotten sexually abused.  ,
The victim was taken to KK Women’s &, Children’s Clinics after the class alerted the Child Protective Service. A : A police report was later filed, and the gentleman was detained on September 24, 2021.  ,
Given the defendant’s time, risk, and extended period of physical abuse, Deputy Public Prosecutors Jane Lim and Jeremy Bin requested a word of 28 to 31 years in prison and 24 strokes in their punishment distribution.  ,
When the accused raped her, the victim was barely older than a child. She only wanted a father figure in her life. Instead, the accused sexually assaulted her to satisfy her own perverse desires, they claimed in their submission.  ,
The accused showed not one iota of regret after the victim finally found the courage to report what was happening, making clear that she was a liar with a motive to frame him and making blatantly false accusations against several Singapore Police Force officers.
They added that the victim “essentially lost” her family after the report was made in their submission.  ,
She lost both her mother and her father, who she was very close to. According to them,” Her mother even blamed her for reporting the accused to her,” adding that as a result the victim had to live apart from her mother and without any relatives in an orphanage.  ,
