Travellers advised to defer non-essential travel to Johor as heavy rain worsens traffic at land checkpoints

Travelers in Singapore are advised to postpone non-essential journey to Johor because the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints will experience persistent heavy traffic this weekend. &nbsp,

Both checkpoints have experienced very heavy arrival and departure traffic since the start of the March school holidays, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority ( ICA ) on Friday ( Mar 21 ). &nbsp,

” The rain surge in Singapore has caused the incessant rains to continue for the past two weeks, which has also contributed to the customers build-up at the property checkpoints.”

Travelers in cars and motorcycles that leave the airport have had to wait more than two days for immigration clearing.

In addition to urging people to avoid queue-chopping, there have been reports of road incidents reported over the past two days, ICA even advised drivers to postpone non-essential journey if possible. &nbsp,

” Those who wish to continue their journey may anticipate difficulties and are advised to examine the traffic problems before getting there,” it continued.
