
A 57-year-old Malaysian lorry driver was charged with three counts of driving while under the influence of drugs and involving a boy in a collision that resulted in the death of a boy in Singapore on Thursday ( Mar 20 ).  ,
According to local media firm Bernama, I Muniandy@Ang Ah Leang was charged with the offence at Johor Bahru’s Jalan Pantai at 10.10pm.  ,
Unrepresented, Muniandy entered a plea to the three charges after being readmitted on Thursday to the Johor Bahru Magistrates Court in Mandarin by sheriff Nur Fatin Mohamad Farid.
The wagon driver “lost power” of his vehicle, according to Johor Bahru South authorities chief Raub Selamat, who reported the incident on Sunday to the Johor Bahru South police.  ,
The child was thrown out of the vehicle in the incident, and two others were hurt.  ,
Four of the passengers in the car were Singaporeans, including the pilot, and one was an Indonesian.  ,
For driving while intoxicated and causing Mohamad Noah Soliqin Mohamad Khairuz’s death on Sunday and according to Section 44 ( 1 )( a ) of the Road Transport Act 1987, Muniandy was charged.  ,
The charge carries a jail term of 10 to 15 years and a fine of up to RM100, 000 ( US$ 22, 593 ).
Muniandy could receive a suspended license from a driver’s license for at least seven years and have his temporary license revoked if found guilty.  ,
Additionally, Muniandy is accused of two counts under Section 44 ( 1 ) ( a ) of the same Act for driving while intoxicated while intoxicating two other Singaporeans, Lina Yulianti, 38, and Mohamad Khairuz Bahrawi, 44.
A maximum excellent of RM50, 000, a ban on holding or obtaining a driver’s license for at least seven times, and the withdrawal of one’s provisional license are all penalties for each command.
The loan amount is set at RM4, 000 per fee, with a guarantee for each cost.
Muniandy was even required to turn in his card. He won’t be able to work on his license until the case is resolved.
He is also required to turn himself in to the nearest police stop when per month and halt contact with the patients.
