Singapore Underwater Federation falsified finswimming results in 2023 SEA Games selection: SNOC, SportSG

During the selection process for the 2023 Southeast Asian ( SEA ) Games, the Singapore Underwater Federation ( SUF) submitted fabricated results for the women’s 4x200m finswimming competition.

This was made public on Wednesday ( Mar 19 ) by Sport Singapore, Sport Singapore, and the National Olympic Council ( SNOC). On Tuesday, a police report was filed.

The group then participated in the 2023 SEA Games.

On July 1, 2024, a commission of inquiry was set up by both activities authorities to research the claims that SUF made false results.

Mr. Lau Kok Keng, a companion at Rajah &amp, Tann and a part of the SNOC executive council, presided over the council. Individuals from SNOC and SportSG were also present.

In February, the examinations came to an end.

In a joint press release, SNOC and SportSG stated that” the investigation concluded that the submitted results were truly falsified.

The research also found places of subpar management and a failure to report wrongdoing to those responsible for SUF.

SportSG and SNOC will evaluate and apply the recommendations that the COI have made in addition to strengthening the integrity of the procedure for national sports associations ‘ distribution of results for major Games choice.

After having its account suspended by its international union in a separate issue in December 2023, the SUF is still under investigation by the SNOC.

SportSG has suspended aid for the coaches ‘ National Registry of Coaches, administrators, players, and the  national register of instructors.

The officials stated that “SNOC and SportSG do never accept any acts that violate the integrity of the main Games variety process.”

National sports organisations are required to take responsibility for providing accurate and authentic datapoints.

All relevant national sports organizations may be required to submit supporting documents that are related to the selection process for the 2018 Olympics, including an additional charter.

SportSG said it will increase test checks to check the validity of all supporting papers and datapoints.
