After the government cut power to several areas along the border, Digital Economy and Society ( DES ) Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong reported losses reported from call scams fell by at least 200 million baht.

Since the Thai government cut power, oil, and internet access to border towns suspected of hosting scam groups in Myanmar on February 5, according to Mr. Prasert, the number of reported cybercrime cases has decreased by at least 20 %. Since February 5, 25, 487 cases have been reported, compared to 31, 159 from January 1 to January 1. Before action was taken, there was no activity.

He claimed that call scam problems have decreased by 67 % and that more than 1, 000 cases were filed on average per day before the cut-off.

According to Mr. Prasert, an Anti-Online Murder Centre report revealed that the injury volume from grievances made via its 1441 Hotline in February was 200 million ringgit less than it was in January, or about 30 % less.
