According to National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang, the affair “does not reflect the true doctrines of Islam,” and it “does not reflect the true teachings of Islam.”  ,
In a speech on X on Monday, Dagang said,” I clearly condemn any form of violence, bias, and prejudice that may harm racial harmony.  ,
He also confirmed that the sufferer has reported a police incident to the Johor Bahru Police Station, Tampoi.  ,
The two federal ministers were referring to videos that appeared on X that showed a senior citizen confronting a young Chinese man inside a convenience store while wearing a black jubah ( or robe ).  ,
The person, who identified himself as Elijah, claimed on X that he was reportedly” slapped various times” after refusing to present his identification cards to demonstrate that he wasn’t a Muslim.
Elijah wrote on X,” He inquired whether I was a Muslim and reprimanded me for eating during the fasting month, even though I am no and was not even troubling him.”  ,
The unification secretary, Dagang, confirmed that the incident took place at Angsana Mall and that it is being looked into by Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing harm in a statement on X.
The man could be imprisoned for up to a year, subject to a fine of up to RM2,000 ( US$ 450 ), or both if found guilty.  ,
