In the next event, Mrs. Teo claimed that Madam A, a citizen, and M, a young woman, had a conversation at Upper Boon Keng in January.
M stated that she needed to visit Mdm A, who could not talk for herself, and the couple requested monetary assistance.
The minister said she “wrapped up another talk to attend to them quickly” when the couple informed MPS participants that they had a” personal matter to raise straight” with Mrs. Teo.
” Around that time, M opened a book with a number of files and gave a three-page speech to Mdm A. Mdm A continued to recite the statement while looking a little uncertain,” said Mrs. Teo.
The contents were related to the financial help they had originally claimed to be seeking, and it soon became clear that the couple were no mother and daughter. Mrs. Teo did not reveal what the speech contained.
She continued,” My individuals and I have been working together for a while, including providing monthly foods and regular meals rations,” adding,” In fact, for some time. We did not question how there was immediately a” girl” accompanying her to MPS in order to honor her protection.
Mdm A, who aspired to become a spiritual teacher a few years back, was recommended by Mrs. Teo and the participants to a reputable organization that provided financial aid for her research, she shared.
Mrs. Teo stated,” To this day, my individuals and I continue to support Mdm A by delivering her regular supplies.”
She explained to us during a supply transmission not long after the incident that her youngest child had qualified for a government program to support his schooling and that she does not need any additional forms of financial aid.
At least twice in the last month only, I’ve seen Mdm A at our district situations where donations were distributed to residents.
Individuals HELD BY” AMBUSH”
Mrs. Teo claimed that her participants were” contrasted and saddened by such occurrences,” especially when they “reacted to those at the sessions with earnest purpose, always anticipating being led an “ambush”.”
As we perform our jobs, such instances affect my individuals and our sense of safety. When we are unsure of whether we will be treated with hostility, called names ( like” coward” in Min Shan’s case ), or be secretly recorded and featured in articles meant to portray us in a negative light,” she said,” it becomes difficult to let our guard down.
I also take it that people of Singapore may have more pressing problems than just their own. They do it in the hope that we will express their opinions to the state rather than as a way to press it into submission in public.
” While my individuals and I will do our best to recover from such occurrences, I am disappointed that, in my nearly 20 years as an MP, incidents like these appear to have altered the voice of MPS.”
She continued,” their best purpose” is back, as the sessions are no “protest platforms, but a channel for MPs to join their people openly and go to their most serious wants,” adding that she hopes MPS will return to” their truest purpose.”
