Ahead of Yoon impeachment ruling, South Korea’s acting president calls for calm

SEOUL: South Korea’s acting President Choi Sang-mok called on Friday ( Mar 14 ) for the nation to respect and accept any decision, ahead of a Constitutional Court’s ruling on the impeachment of leader Yoon Suk Yeol over his short-lived martial law order.

Choi also said the state would mobilise all possible authorities resources to parts of the money Seoul, pledging no compassion for any acts difficult people power.

Surveillance is being tightened around the courtroom, with a moratorium on drone planes in the area already in position.

Both pro and anti-Yoon delegations are expected to take to the streets to notice the decision that is due to appear within weeks.

” The global society is keeping a close eye on the Republic of Korea. Our country’s political endurance is being tested”, Choi said at a conference with government officials, using South Korea’s established name.

” It is essential for social security and group growth that all people express their opinions in a legal sense and value and accept the results of any selection”, he said.

When hundreds of Yoon followers have recently gathered near the Constitutional Court during sessions for Yoon’s event, they have been surrounded by a band of police officers and cars.

Police have said they are ready to use pepper spray and batons in case of any repeat of the type of violence that occurred during a rampage by Yoon supporters who broke into a court building in January.

A security “bubble” has been established in a 100m area around the court, local media reported. Barbed wire has also been installed on the walls of the court.
