Regulators inspecting Bangtao Beach find some constructions on public land

Kindness users on Bangtao Beach in Phuket have been told to obliterate any of their organizations that intrude on public property.

A team led by the local National Anti-Corruption Commission ( NACC ) office inspected the expansive beach as part of efforts to clean up public beaches from encroachment on Tuesday. &nbsp,

The inspection was carried out with the STRONG Anti-Corruption Network, NACC Region 8, the Internal Security Operations Command ( Isoc ), the Phuket Marine Office, Thalang district office and Choeng Thale tambon administrative organisation ( TAO ).

The attend followed an examination in late January after a tip-off from STRONG. On Tuesday, the crew found a building structure had been partly dismantled, leaving only its base in place.

But, new buildings were found to have been built on what is supposed to be open area, including restaurants. Some resorts on the shore were also found to have placed massive stones in the public area. Upon questioning, resort users claimed the stones were to protect against waves.

Many hotels were also found to have set up pleasure areas in the open area, as well as rock walls that obstruct the community from accessing and walking openly on the beach.

The NACC company advised companies to set up a public notice board to remind users that Bangtao Beach is a public-designated place and that all products and building institutions encroaching on the location must be removed. Users will also be fully informed in writing.

If owners fail to agree, agencies may destroy encroaching constructions and pursue legal action, said authorities, adding most operators were willing to comply and collaborate with the assessment to determine whether their projects overlapped with the public place.
