Man who tried to hide drugs in bushes outside State Courts before hearing jailed

SINGAPORE: A male expected to enter a reading at the State Courts decided to place a bag of medicines in the trees outside the tower before going in. &nbsp,

Sajan Oberoi, 35, intended to pick up the bag of meth and other things after his judge notice. &nbsp,

He was nabbed by police officials at the State Courts who saw what he did. &nbsp,

Sajan, an Indian national and Singapore Permanent Resident, was sentenced to one year and 10 weeks ‘ jail on Friday ( Mar 7 ) for a range of offences, including possessing methamphetamine. &nbsp,

In full, he pleaded guilty to five costs, two of which were related to drugs. Another 15 costs, including medicine offences, legal harassment, and using legal force, were taken into consideration for his punishment. &nbsp,

The jury heard that on Oct 24, 2023, Sajan consumed meth at apartment before heading to the State Courts for a pre-trial meeting over additional fees. &nbsp,

He reached the substance in the evening and placed a bag containing no less than 1.17g of meth, a straw and three pieces of metal sheet in the trees, intending to get these up after the hearing.

However, authorities soldiers saw him depositing the products and arrested him at about 1.45pm. &nbsp, The drugs were meant for his own use.

Apart from the pharmaceutical crimes, Sajan admitted to hitting a 35-year-old person on the side of his head with a beverage container while at a table in Boat Quay on Aug 17, 2024. &nbsp,

This gentleman, who was intoxicated, had approached Sajan to beg to shake hands and create a bargain that Sajan may stop looking at the man’s female companion. &nbsp,

Sajan refused to shake his hand and threatened to crush the victim’s mind with a beer drink if he did not go away. &nbsp,

The target persisted in asking Sajan to shake his hand and Sajan followed through with his danger. &nbsp, The man suffered a 1.5cm gash on his mind as a result. &nbsp,

Later that month, Sajan stole jars of Monkey Shoulder&nbsp, whisky&nbsp, and Maker’s Mark whiskey from Cold Storage Supermarket at Raffles City, where he was caught by a damage prevention agent.

In 2023, Sajan even molested a 35-year-old girl working as a client at a table, &nbsp, kissing her on the left church when she leaned closer to learn what he was saying. &nbsp,

The prosecutors sought 1 month and 10 to 12 months ‘ prison for Sajan. &nbsp,

Sajan was recently convicted of various crimes, including the use of violence, in September 2023. He was fined a total of S$ 18, 500 ( US$ 13, 900 ) on these offences.
