Proposed Seletar MRT line could offer Sengkang, Serangoon residents quicker route to Johor Bahru: Analyst

A transport analyst predicted that the proposed Seletar MRT line would extend as far as Woodlands North and give residents in areas like Sengkang and Serangoon a quicker route to Malaysia via the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS ) Link. &nbsp,

The cautious Tengah Line would also help the west’s residents find an alternative rail line and lessen demand for the aging East-West Line. &nbsp,

Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat made the proposed lines public on Wednesday ( Mar 5 ) in parliament. According to Mr. Chee, the lines may be operating in the 2040s and offer more than 400, 000 families pending practicality research. &nbsp,

Woodlands, Sembawang, Sengkang West, Serangoon North, Whampoa, Kallang, and the Greater Southern Waterfront could all be served by the Seletar Line. &nbsp,

Tengah, Bukit Batok, Queensway, and Bukit Merah could all be served by the Tengah Line. These possible rail lines might meet at the Greater Southern Waterfront, and feasibility studies may look into the possibility of combining the two into a single range. &nbsp,

According to Associate Professor Raymond Ong, the Seletar Line could be a “major connecting stage from Singapore to Johor Bahru” based on the proposed position. &nbsp,

The assistant head of research and business at the National University of Singapore’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering,” If we look at the Seletar Line, we see that we are seeing the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, and we have the RTS it,” said the assistant head of research and business. &nbsp,

The Thomson-East Coast Line ( TEL ) and the North-South Line ( NSL), according to him, are the two lines that serve the Woodlands area close to Johor Bahru, with Woodlands North on the TEL being connected to the RTS Link. &nbsp,

” The NSL is getting older, and ( whether the TEL has ) enough capacity,” he said. &nbsp,

He added that the TEL even passes through” a different type of house account” as the proposed Seletar Line, which would join Johor Bahru and Sengkang and Serangoon. &nbsp,
