K Shanmugam, Tan See Leng take Bloomberg, reporter to court for defamation

Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam and Manpower Minister Tan See Leng have filed slander claims against Bloomberg and one of its journalists in Singapore. &nbsp,

The situations are scheduled for event meetings on March 3 according to the court website. &nbsp,

Bloomberg ran an article, titled” Singapore Mansion Deals Are Increasingly Shrouded in Secrecy”, which spoke about Good Class Bungalow ( GCB) transactions in Singapore, on Dec 12, 2024. The post, written by&nbsp, Mr Low De Wei, mentioned Mr Shanmugam and Dr Tan. &nbsp,

A Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act ( POFMA ) correction order was issued to a number of entities in December of last year. &nbsp,

Both ministers stated on December 16 that they would be releasing Letters of Need to Bloomberg and other outlets that may reproduce the article entirely or in part because they felt the piece was offensive. &nbsp,

The Edge, which reproduced the content on its website, apologised to the two ministers and removed the content.
