After 125 Thai nationals were rescued over the weekend in Poipet, Thailand and Cambodia are considering setting up a joint operations center to combat the operation of a fraud syndicate along the expressed boundary.

Royal Thai Police inspector-general, Pol Gen Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, said the program was drawn off following a conversation with Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai.

He added that the government’s plan reflects its commitment to combat fraud syndicates, which have claimed many lives from all over the planet.

The conversation, he said, came in the midst of a onslaught over the weekend, which saw 215 persons rescued from con ingredients in Poipet in Cambodia, which lies on Thailand’s northeast border.

Among them were 125 Thai people, Pol Gen Thatchai said, noting they are now under the guardianship of Thai officers.

The RTP inspector-general noted that the number of victims who have been saved is expected to rise over the coming weeks because the crackdown is also taking place at various locations.

However, Pol Gen Thatchai said, as Thai police are in charge of the operation, Thai officials are unaware of the extent of the continuous assault.

He therefore thanked Thai government for their assistance and cooperation in the fight against cross-border legal syndicates.

When questioned about how Cambodia’s condition compares to the ongoing fight against scam syndicates along Myanmar’s border, Pol Gen Thatchai claimed that the majority of Thai victims were saved from scam factories along Laos and Cambodia, no Myanmar.

There haven’t been any reports of Thais being persuaded to work in Myawaddy, Myanmar, despite reports that claimed the majority of the animal accounts used in call center scams were connected to crime syndicates, according to Pol Gen Thatchai.
