BEIJING: A former Chinese aerospace defence executive has been expelled from the ruling Communist Party for corruption, China’s anti-graft watchdog said on Monday ( Feb 24 ), part of a sweeping anti-corruption purge across China’s military-industrial complex.
The former president of Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Tan Ruisong, “lived off the defense business” and took a huge amount in money, according to a declaration from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
In response to the removal of 14 military delegates from China’s regional legislative body in the last two years as part of a clean of the largest military in the world, unprecedented in size and scale, comes the latest in a series of such moves.
These include four generals, eight commander commanders and two big commanders. At least three more professionals in the aviation sector have been fired from China’s best political advisory group.
Tan “had lost his principles and values, betrayed his original desires”, “accepted dinners” in violation of Party rules, “engaged in power-for-sex transactions” and used his position to” get profits for others in business reform and… contracting executive projects”, the unusually precise statement said.
His situation has been transferred to lawyers, the statement added.
Reuters may never achieve Tan for comment. The China-based State-owned Aviation Industry Corporation did not respond to a request for comment right away.
