
Drink-driving violations increased by 6.9 per share to 1, 778 in 2024. There were 12 dangerous drink-driving accidents in the same year.
But, red-light violations dipped next year , by 11.9 per share, from 32, 867 cases in 2023 to 28, 965 circumstances in 2024.  ,
Red-light running fatal injuries decreased by 25 %, from eight cases in 2023 to six cases in 2024.  ,
ELDERLY Walkers, MOTORCYCLISTS REMAIN VULNERABLE
SPF asserted that there still is a significant number of road traffic collisions involving old and motorcyclists, which result in injuries or fatalities.
Despite only making up 14.7 % of the country’s car community in 2024, the police claimed that motorcycles or scooter riders were responsible for 55.2 percent of all traffic accidents and accounted for 59 % of visitors fatalities.
Motorcycle accidents increased 4.7 per share to 3, 969 circumstances in 2024.
Motorcyclist and pillion horse casualties increased by 4.7 per cent as well, from 4, 303 citizens in 2023 to 4, 507 citizens in 2024.
In 2024, fatalities involving drivers increased by 20.8 % to 87 cases, with motorcyclist and scooter rider fatalities rising by 25 percent to 85 people at the same time.
The old pedestrians” continue to be a considerable concern,” according to the police.
” This party remains three in pedestrian mortality”, it said.
In 2024, the elderly made up 12.5 % of Singapore’s overall population, but they were responsible for 42.4 percent of all pedestrian fatalities and 44 % of all fatalities in pedestrian traffic accidents.
Despite this, the number of traffic fatalities involving older pedestrians dipped by 12.7 per share, from 228 cases in 2023 to 199 circumstances in 2024.
In 2024, there were 189 more injured old commuters than there were in 2024.  ,
The number of fatal accidents involving older pedestrians also plunged by 50 per cent, from 22 cases in 2023 to 11 circumstances in 2024, while old pedestrian mortality decreased by 52.2 per share, from 23 people in 2023 to 11 people in 2024.
Jaywalking continues to be a problem, the SPF added, as incidents involving jaywalkers increased by 23 per cent to 353 circumstances in 2024.
The number of deaths among jaywalkers even increased by 26 per share, from 283 people in 2023 to 356 people in 2024.
Fatal accidents involving jaywalkers increased by 12.5 per share, from 16 cases in 2023 to 18 circumstances in 2024.
According to the police,” Elderly pedestrians continue to be overrepresented, accounting for 38.9 % of the total fatalities involving jaywalkers in 2024.”
