SINGAPORE: Building of the soon-to-open Hobbes station required special engineering skills, including the need for employees to automated transport some construction materials 700 meters on a track trolley from the nearby Hillview station.  ,
The station’s integration into the Downtown Line (DTL ) was further complicated by strict testing limitations. Specialists had only a short window of time to conduct tests with trains between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. outside of the customer support hours.
Hume place was the first underwater station in Singapore constructed while trains traveled through the area. It was constructed during the DTL’s next step in 2015 as a” shell place”- a structure with only the fundamental framework. It is located between the operating Hillview and Beauty World stations.  ,
Janil Puthucheary, the then-Senior Minister of State for Transport, said in 2019 that the pace of development and the growth in the area did not justify its establishment at the time.  ,
Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat announced last month that the train will start on time for the scheduled day of February 28th. Work to fully provide the place for operation started in January 2021.
