House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha confirmed on Friday that politicians ‘ plan for next Thursday will include the case of a questionable MP facing a murder allegation.

Other MPs will have the power to decide whether to debate the issue and ballot on whether to allow officers to pursue charges against Chaiyamparwaan Manpianjit, a Bangkok MP from the Thai Progress Party.

Mr. Chaiyamparwaan has been charged with raping a Chinese woman next month in Chiang Mai, a rumor he refutes.

According to his parliamentary immunity, authorities need the House of Representatives ‘ approval before proceeding with any legal action against him.

According to reports, Mr. Chaiyamparwaan is already in Bangkok and intends to turn himself in before the meeting on Thursday, January 31. His legal group maintains that the sexual was consensual and refutes the assault accusations.

After an internal research revealed that the 35-year-old MP had sexually harassed three helpers, the now-defunct Move Forward Party expelled him in 2023.
