BANGKOK: Five Thai workers, released after being held hostage for over a year in Gaza, arrived in Bangkok on Sunday ( Feb 9 ).
Sarusak Rumnao, 32, Watchara Sriaoun, 33, Sathian Suwannakham, 35, Pongsak Thaenna, 36, and Bannawat Saethao, 27, were freed on Jan 30 as part of an transfer agreement.
Since the war broke out, they were the next hostage releaseee of Thailand.
In a bargain negotiated between Thailand and Hamas, with support from Qatar and Iran, 23 Thai citizens were released during an earlier peace in November 2023.
Due to their gain, all five men were evaluated at a clinic outside Tel Aviv.
Early this year, one equivalent joined four of them.
According to the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv, the Israeli government sponsored the journey.
