Malaysia king Sultan Ibrahim leaves country for medical treatment abroad

Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, the ruler of Malaysia, has left the nation to seek medical care worldwide.

Malaysia’s Istana Negara or national palace stated in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday ( Feb. 7 ) that the issue had been discussed with the Conference of Rulers and the federal government.

” Istana Negara calls upon all Malay to worship for His Majesty’s timely treatment and continued well-being”, the statement read.

No additional details were shared on where Sultan Ibrahim, 66, is headed to, nor the type of therapy that he is seeking.

Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim, the king’s two sons, are accompanying him on the journey.

The princes and the prince, who was dressed in an orange suit, were photographed by the Royal Press Office before their Friday morning departure from Subang Air Base.

Sultan Ibrahim greeted the formal opening of the First Meeting of the Third Conference of the 15th Parliament earlier on Monday.

He stayed the following day at the Istana Negara’s pre-council meet.

Sultan Ibrahim had an interventional procedure performed at the Gleneagles Medical Centre in Singapore in 2016. The king, who was then Johor’s Sultan, had a report from Bermuda that the latter had experienced stomach problems while exercising.

Individually, The Star reported in 2018 that Sultan Ibrahim had received care in Singapore for an old shirt wound to his head.
