US Postal Service suspends parcels from China

Washington, on February 4, the US Postal Service announced that it was temporarily suspending outbound packages from China and Hong Kong, just as President Donald Trump’s new levies targeted Beijing were being implemented.

The halt will continue until further notice, and it comes in response to Trump’s request for an extra 10 % tax on Chinese goods starting on Tuesday.

The purchase, unveiled over the weekend, even eliminated a duty-free provision for small value items.

The “de minimis” deduction allows imports of products valued at US$ 800 or less without paying taxes or jobs.

However, it has been subject to scrutiny as a result of recent spikes in shipping that claimed the provision.

The development of Chinese-founded online merchants Shein and Temu, according to US leaders, is a key driver behind this progress, and Tuesday’s end may prevent packages from both businesses from entering the country.

Washington has been working to strengthen the regulation, claiming that the increase in shipment numbers makes it harder to check for security risks.

Nevertheless, the USPS gave no reason for its wait on Tuesday.

Another businesses, such as Amazon, may suffer as well.
