Trump says he would ‘rather not’ put tariffs on China

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, made repeated promises on the campaign trail to impose heavy transfer taxes on China, with the president saying he had “rather no” impose taxes on it.

Trump said in an interview with Fox News that he could reach a package with Chinese leader Xi Jinping regarding business and Taiwan.” I can do that because we have everything that they want, we have a pot of gold.

” We have one really great power over China, and that’s taxes, and they don’t need them, and I’d rather not have to apply it. However, it has a lot of power over China,” the president said in the interview that aired on Thursday ( Jan 23 ) in the US.

Trump announced on Monday that ten percent taxes on all Chinese exports would start taking effect on February 1; on the plan trail, he claimed a charge as high as 60 percent.

On Friday, Beijing called for the US and China to resolve their differences through “dialogue and conversation”.

” China-US economic and trade participation is jointly beneficial”, foreign department spokesperson Mao Ning said.

” Trade war and price wars have no victors and don’t offer anyone’s objectives or the country’s interests”, she added.
