Thailand has been seeking to suppress health concerns among possible Chinese tourists ahead of the Lunar New Year vacation time as fears have mounted over reported kidnappings on the Thai-Myanmar borders.
Scam materials have mushroomed in Myanmar’s borders and are staffed by immigrants who are often trafficked and forced to work, swindling their colleagues in an industry experts say is for billions of dollars.
Concerns were raised after studies that a couple of rising Chinese stars were allegedly trafficked into cyber-fraud facilities in Myanmar from Thailand earlier this month, fuelling concerns on Chinese social media with users saying Thailand was a “dangerous” area.
