Singapore hands over sixth tranche of humanitarian aid for Gaza

SINGAPORE :  Singapore has handed its seventh round of humanitarian assistance to Gaza- numbering about S$ 1. 3 million ( US$ 1 million ) –  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday ( Jan 22 ).

Singapore has now  contributed around S$ 19 million value of gifts to the  Israeli area.

The latest transfer of support by the  Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation ( RLAF)  comprised  S$ 851,000 to the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation and S$ 435,000 to UNICEF.

Next Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamad Maliki Osman attended the ceremony in Jordan and reaffirmed the “deep and enduring connection” between Singapore and Jordan, which has allowed near cooperation on providing humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

Dr Maliki expressed his desire that the  ceasefire and hostage return deal between Israel and Hamas will offer” a much-needed beginning to step up the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, to alleviate the immense suffering it”.

He even thanked the RLAF for leading the  fundraising attempts in Singapore for charitable activities in Gaza.

” Singapore may continue to explore ways to support humanitarian and pleasure work in partnership with our local partners. “

As announced next year. Singapore does work on sending an air delivery of humanitarian items to Gaza, in partnership with Jordan.

Dr Maliki also reiterated Singapore’s approach of a two-state option being the only viable route towards a” comprehensive, just, and durable answer” to the historic issue.
