More than 50 marsh and equate plant types, such as the berry marsh, were found to be threatened, with at least 60 threatened species species, including the straw-headed bird and two species of bend crabs.
An EIA usually consists of a foundation study, assessment of climate effect and the creation of limiting measures, as well as an economic management and monitoring plan.
Preliminary results from the review, which assessed prospective environmental effects of the proposed nature area, found that “appropriate” prevention measures put in place can reduce the impact to wildlife, NParks said.
Some of the proposed measures include the retrieving of plants that are of conservation value and replanting with native species, avoiding large development works during the animal migrant season, as well as habitat enhancement and reinstatement.
The whole EIA review will be published next quarter and the public are invited to give their opinions when it is over, NParks added.
