Monk found dead with dog bite wounds, pitbull in room

NONTHABURI- A priest was found deceased in his place with important dog bite wounds and his canine dog, a one-year-old bulldog, at a temple in Muang district.

Officers from Bang Sri Munag place were called to a religious room at a church in tambon Sai Ma about 1 am on Tuesday. They found the body of Phra Bundit Butrasane, 46, lying face down in a pool of blood.

His right palm was missing, and some of the body on his face. On the proper side of the monk’s nose were bite wounds, deep into the tooth.      

Authorities said the priest had been deceased for about two days before his body was found by a church servant identified only as Ou.

Mr Ou, 27, said he had not seen Phra Bundit, the abbot’s director, since Saturday. Shortly before midnight on Monday he noticed the lamps were still on in the wizard’s room and knocked on his entrance, but there was no reply.

He therefore opened the door from the inside, leaning in through the screen crystal windows, and found the priest dead on the floor. His dog, Jord, ran out of the room quickly the door was opened, Mr Ou said.    

It was not apparent if the priest had a health problem and had died, or if he had been attacked. Authorities were waiting for the inquest consequence to identify the cause of death.    

Although Phra Bundit had raised and kept Jord inside his sleeping quarters since it was a dog, Mr Ou believed the puppy does had mauled him to death. It was intense and jealous.  

“Phra Bundit has been bitten by Jord before. It is jealous and violent. Jord also jumped up and bit Phra Bundit when he handed me anything, ” Mr Ou said.

“After this, who in this church had attempt treatment for this puppy? ”
