A Chinese man wanted for public fraud has been extradited from Thailand to China in a case involving more than 112 million yuan ( US$ 15. 3 million ).
Yan Tianxi was handed over to Shanghai economic police at Suvarnabhumi airport and put on a flight to China last Thursday, Jan 16, Thitiwadee Sintawanarong, a public prosecutor at the Foreign Affairs Division of Office of the Attorney-General ( OAG ), said on Monday.
Kung was wanted on an arrest warrant issued last year by a Chinese jury for allegedly colluding with others to deceive 112 million yuan from Chinese people via a false loan program.
Shanghai financial officers learned that Yan fled to Thailand and requested help from the OAG to identify and apprehend him. Thailand and China signed an extradition agreement in 1993.
Ms Thitiwadee said Thai authorities arrested Yan on Sep 19 next time, three days after an arrest warrant had been issued. On Oct 28, the Criminal Court ordered the confinement of Yan pending the extradition approach.
