According to modern traveling platform Agoda, Bangkok is the most favorite travel destination for Thai nationals and foreigners who are planning to visit the country for the Chinese New Year.
The city’s reputation as a favorite location for colorful celebrations was confirmed by December’s accommodation research data on the Agoda platform.
The Chinese New Year officially begins on January 29 as the Year of the Serpent.
Pattaya in Chon Buri province and Chiang Mai were second and third, respectively, with accommodation searches increasing by 38 % and 55 % from last year, Agoda said.
Additionally, it added that domestic visitors are looking for previously unexplored locations like Khon Kaen, which saw a 2, 964 % increase in hotel requests year-on-year.
Over the same time, foreign tourists searched for hotels in Bangkok for this holiday season up 70 %.
Other popular locations include Phuket and Hat Yai district in Songkhla, with the level of searches jumping 80 % and 30 % respectively, according to the system.
According to Agoda, Malaysians are in the top 20 of foreigners looking for lodging in Thailand during the Chinese New Year for the next year in a row, followed by Chinese and North Korean visitors.
For Thai visitors who are planning to travel abroad during this time, Agoda reported that Tokyo is still the best place for the next time in a row, with searches rising 66 %.
Aekvarunyoo Amrapala, a spokesman for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ( BMA ), welcomed Bangkok being chosen as people’s top choice.
” We are delighted that Bangkok has taken the lead,” said the group. The BMA will continue to collaborate with all industries to grow the economy on all sides,” he declared.
