She’s unfazed by deadly attacks on policemen

In response to concerns about a new uprising of murder in the region, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will travel to three of the region’s southernmost regions on Thursday.

The trip marks the prime minister’s second visit to the southwestern border regions of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala.

Lt Gen Phaisarn Sangnu, captain of the 4th Army, said military, police and local officials may work up to step up security and guards during the prime minister’s attend.

Lt. Gen Phaisarn, who also serves as the director of the Internal Security Operation Command’s ( Isoc ) Region 4, declared,” Security operations will be carried out in areas where insurgents may be active to prevent any untoward incidents.

Apart from security firms, people can even lend a hand by providing government with tip-offs or facts regarding rebels ‘ activities, he said.

Despite new bombings in the area, Ms. Paetongtarn may travel to Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat on Thursday.

Six armed rangers were hurt on Monday morning in a bombing incident in the tambon Ano Ru in Pattani, and two police were killed in an explosion in the area of Narathiwat on Tuesday.

When asked if she would speak with local community leaders about the southern turmoil, Ms. Paetongtarn said on Wednesday that the government is determined to do everything in its power to bring peace back to the heavy South.

She questioned how the government would combine efforts to bring peace to the area. She said the government is interested in addressing a number of issues in the deep west, including finding ways to increase local residents ‘ incomes.

Ms. Paetongtarn condoled the families of the victims of the bombing that occurred in Narathiwat in a text posted on X on Wednesday.

The occurrence underscored the need for the authorities to increase its efforts to solve the issue and bring peace to the area, according to Ms. Paetongtarn.

The soldiers killed by the weapon in Sri Sakhon city of Narathiwat were identified as Pol Lt Col Suwit Chuaythewarit, 56, and his brother, Pol Snr Sgt Maj Dome Chuaythewarit, 35.

Phumtham Wechayachai, the minister of defense, announced on Wednesday that authorities do maintain high security while the prime minister was there.

According to Mr. Phumtham, who also serves as deputy prime minister,” The visit is intended to find ways to resolve the southern unrest and ensure maximum benefits for local people.”

He may also travel with the prime minister along with him.

At the National Security Council meeting on Tuesday, Mr. Phumtham claimed to have raised the issue of southern upheaval.

” Whenever we reduce the protection of disaster laws, situations occur, seemingly aligned with the objective of specific groups,” said Mr Phumtham.
