Severe Covid cases, fatalities will gradually drop: govt

The numbers of everyday Covid-19 cases : including severe situations – and fatalities are stable, and the numbers of severe instances and fatalities will likely gradually fall in a few weeks, according to the Department of Disease Control.

Presenting an overview of Covid-19 in the nation, Dr Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the division, said at the General public Health Ministry upon Monday that the quantity of new Covid-19 situations remained high — at 201, 554 over the past week.

The number of serious cases in Greater Bangkok and visitor provinces was steady while those in other provinces rose.

“During the long holidays last month, workers within Greater Bangkok came back home. We must keep track of if outbreaks start in the other provinces, ” Dr Opas said.

New fatalities continued to be high in Greater Bangkok over the past week.

On Weekend 19 people died of Covid-19, all elderly people and those along with underlying illnesses. Of them, 47% were unvaccinated, 32% did not obtain a booster shot and 21% had their particular booster shot greater than three months ago, Doctor Opas said.

“The HANDBAG. 4 and HANDBAG. 5 sub-variants resist vaccines, so enhancer shots are necessary to reduce severe illnesses plus fatalities, ” Dr Opas said.

The health program and hospital mattresses could still cope with severely ill sufferers thanks to vaccinations, he said.
