SINGAPORE: Two Singaporean men in their 50s were on Wednesday ( Jan 15 ) charged with urinating at MRT stations in separate incidents.
On Monday, at around 7.30pm, Zhou Hongwei, 57, was accused of urinating in front of the Potong Pasir MRT station’s customer support center.
Zhou gave the judge a date of February 26 to declare his guilty plea to the case.
He remains out on parole of S$ 5, 000. The judge reminded Zhou never to re-offend while on parole, to which Zhou replied:” Okay, can”.
A SBS Transit spokesperson for the transportation company recently claimed a worker saw the incident and called the police.
The man left the station with the officers, and the damaged area was quickly cleaned up, according to the director.
Soo Fook Khan, 53, was charged with urinating at the Tanah Merah MRT place on January 8 in the following incident at around 12.30pm.
On October 5, 2024, Soo is also accused of harassing a loan on behalf of an unregistered creditor by pouring out ashes from an urn to knock on a flat’s door.
After being charged, he was remanded to the Institute of Mental Health for a clinical examination, and he is still on a S$ 15 000 loan.
On film that was posted virtual on Monday, the affair at the Tanah Merah MRT place was captured.
To date, three cases of people urine at MRT stations , have emerged in less than a week.
Li Guorui, a Chinese nationwide, was fined S$ 2, 000 after he relieved himself on an escalator railing at Outram Park MRT on January 10.
A fine of up to S$ 2, 000 is the maximum penalty for causing people annoyance.
The criminal may receive up to three months in jail if they are aware that doing the work may cause harm, danger, or annoyance.
