Man charged with urinating at Potong Pasir MRT station; third such case in past week

SINGAPORE: A 57-year-old person has been charged with committing public problem by urinating at Potong Pasir MRT station.

Singaporean Zhou Hongwei showed up in court on Wednesday ( Jan 15 ) to read the single charge.

He is accused of urinating in front of the Potong Pasir MRT station’s customer service center on Monday night around 7.30pm.

Zhou gave the judge a day of February 26 to declare his guilty plea to the case.

He remains out on parole of S$ 5, 000. The prosecutor reminded Zhou not to re-offend while on parole, to which Zhou replied:” Okay, can”.

A SBS Transit director for the transportation company recently claimed that a team member saw the incident and called the police.

The man left the station with the officers, and the damaged area was quickly cleaned up, according to the director.

In less than a week, this circumstance is the second one to surface.

Li Guorui, a Chinese nationwide, was fined S$ 2, 000 after he relieved himself on an escalator railing at Outram Park MRT on January 10.

Another man was spotted on a film vomiting in a corner of the system at the Tanah Merah MRT station, and police are looking into it.
