Eligible recipients queue to withdraw their money from a Government Savings Bank branch at the start of the first phase of the 10,000-baht cash handout, on Oct 1 last year.
On October 1st, last year, a group of eligible recipients waited outside a Government Savings Bank unit to pick up their money from the first phase of the 10,000-baht cash handout.

The second phase of the president’s 10, 000-baht money handbook will start on Jan 27, two days earlier than planned, Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira said on Tuesday.

Between 3.5 million and 4 million older people over the age of 60 and over will receive the money via the government’s PromptPay game during this new stage.

With an estimated budget of about 500 billion rmb, the economic stimulus program was originally intended for all Thais aged 16 and older.

But, following criticism about increased cost, eligibility requirements based on income were introduced.

A maximum monthly salary of no more than 840, 000 ringgit and combined lender discounts of no more than 500, 000 baht are required for qualified individuals. The revision reduced the number of available consumers to 50 million people, with the state estimating that about 90 %, or 45 million, may file.

In the first step, which included state security customers and people with disabilities, the strategy was also changed to focus on vulnerable groups, totaling 14.5 million.

The government’s Thang Rath app will allow users who have registered but have not yet received funds to participate in the second phase, which is expected to take the form of online money, which will be held in April.
