Hammer attack at Tokyo university wounds at least 8: Reports

TOKYO: &nbsp, At least eight people were wounded in a hammer attack at a university in Tokyo on Friday ( Jan 10 ), with the suspect apprehended, Japanese media said.

According to common journalist NHK, which cited police resources as saying the evening attack took place at Hosei University’s Tama Campus, all the injured people are conscious.

Jiji Press said a lady in her 20s had been arrested. According to journalist FNN, the perpetrator appeared to be a scholar in her 20s who had been abducted by college staff.

In a rare example of violent crime in Japan, which has stringent gun laws, police may not immediately provide information to AFP.

A collection of emergency vehicles with flashing lights were captured on live NHK footage in the Chinese capital’s residential Machida district.

In Japan, there are occasionally violence and yet murders, including the murder of former prime minister Shinzo Abe in 2022.

At a McDonald’s restaurant in southern Japan, a junior high school student was fatally stabbed, and another was hurt in December. A man was afterwards detained for the assault.

In a frenzy by an intruder who targeted kids as they waited for a vehicle in the Chinese capital of Kawasaki in 2019, two people, including a girl, were stabbed to death and more than a few others were injured.

The 51-year-old perpetrator fatally stabbed himself in the throat after slashed at a group of kids.
