Giving a timeline of events, the federal authorities said on Saturday that the , fuel sparkles were discovered by Shell at around 9.30am on Thursday, and were reported to MPA and NEA at 11.58am and 1.15pm both.
At 12.15pm, an MPA ship arrived at the scene of the affair to assess the situation and offer assistance.
” Initial assessments on Dec 26 ( Thursday ) determined the scale of oil sheens to be minor, with no risk to public safety or environmentally sensitive areas, given the containment measures Shell had implemented”, the agencies said.
Shell placed dispersants in the network where the chilling water is discharged, along with containment and porous booms.  ,
When Shell requested help to speed up the cleansing of the crude sparkles off Pulau Bukom, MPA deployed three patrol boats on Friday.
There have been no observations of oil sparkles or oil areas in the waters off Sentosa, and its beaches remain available for water actions, said the companies.
Nevertheless, as a precaution, oil-absorbent boom have been laid at Sisters ‘ Islands Marine Park and at the shores on Sentosa.  ,
” NEA is investigating the event with MPA, and actions will be taken if any wrong or fall is discovered”, said the authorities.
Shell stated in a distinct statement on Saturday that it would continue to cooperate strongly with the government in keeping track of the situation.  ,
” We continue to collaborate with the government on the examinations, and learn from this event to strengthen our protection performance”, it said.
