SEOUL: A majority of South , Korea’s parliament voted on Friday ( Dec 27 ) to impeach Acting President Han Duck-soo,  , intensifying a political crisis in the country.
Since Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached on December 14 for his short-lived implementation of martial law on December 3, and his national authority suspension, Prime Minister Han has been acting leader.
After Han’s prosecution, Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok is next in range to conclude the acting president, according to South , Asian rules.
The ruling and opposition events, as well as some legal scholars, disagreed on whether an acting president should be impeached by a simple bulk or by a two-thirds vote.
But, legislature Speaker Woo Won-shik said just a simple preponderance of 151 vote was needed to oust Han.
The opposition, which has lot control of congress with 192 politicians, all voted to oust Han.
Following the prosecution voting, Han said he respected senate’s choice and will step aside to prevent more chaos.
After Han’s failure to appoint three magistrates to fill openings at the Constitutional Court, the main opposition party decided to impeach him.
On Thursday, the government supported three nominations, but Han said he would not officially nominate them unless there was bipartisan support for the nominees.
