The private business calls for the late approved minimum wage increase suitable, but it suggests that the government take steps to help relieve obligations on small businesses.

The highest level of 400 ringgit per day will be applied to four regions– Phuket, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri and Rayong– and Koh Samui region in Surat Thani, a supply says.

For Muang Chiang Mai and Hat Yai regions, the minimum wage may improve to 380 baht. Staff in Bangkok and six of the regions that are close to it will receive a minimum salary of 372 baht.

A 2 % increase will use to employees in 67 different counties.

The new salary ranges, approved by the government on Tuesday, does take effect from Jan 1.

The TCC supports the minimum wage increase, according to Poj Aramwattananont, the first vice chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC ) and the Board of Trade of Thailand, on Tuesday.

The pay commission supported raising the minimum wage to 400 ringgit in four provinces and one area, with an average total boost of 2 %, which is in line with the growth of industrial and service-driven economies.

The shift is correct because there hasn’t changed in pay levels for more than a year.

The government and state authorities must take steps to control and alleviate any effects, according to Mr. Poj, but the increase may only have an impact on the economy.

The provinces that are receiving a minimum wage of 400 baht were chosen based on their financial, business, and service growth and their ability to manage the wage increase.

Nevertheless, he said small-scale agrarian and business users in these regions does face problems.

Thus, the government must move in to provide support to ensure business stability and alleviate consequences, including in different regions, Mr Poj said.

The Department of Internal Trade’s director general, Wittayakorn Maneenetr, stated that the agency is carefully monitoring the costs of the essential products and consumer goods impacted by the income increase.

Discussions with manufacturers and operators may look at the impact of the pay increase on manufacturing costs.

Products likely to be affected include skilled-labour-based objects.
