The CIO reported this week that Yoon received a summons that was later returned as “undelivered” after an unnamed employee at the presidential office dissented.
Yoon’s no-show on Wednesday” may be considered as a failure to comply with the first call”, a CIO speech said.
CIO key Oh Dong-woon told congress on Tuesday that they were “reviewing” whether to issue an arrest warrant, despite the fact that prosecutors said they were considering sending a second call.
Yoon is the subject of an investigation by South Korean lawyers as well as a joint team of officers, the defense department, and anti-corruption researchers.
The leader and some of his inner circle face possible life incarceration, or even the death penalty, if found guilty. He is still prohibited from traveling abroad.
South Korea’s Constitutional Court, which began deliberations against Yoon on Monday, is individually deliberating whether to defend his impeachment.
Yoon was ordered by the court on Wednesday to send the martial law order he issued two weeks ago, as well as the cabinet meeting minutes that were held right before and after the announcement.
A primary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 27, but Yoon is not required to participate. The courts have about six months to decide Yoon’s event.
