South Korea’s Yoon given until Saturday to appear for questioning: Yonhap

Yoon Suk Yeol, the president’s impeached on Tuesday ( Dec. 17 ), was ordered by South Korean prosecutors to appear by the weekend for questioning because of his unsuccessful attempt to establish martial law, or face arrest, according to Yonhap news agency.

Yoon, suspended from office by congress on Saturday, is being investigated over alleged rebellion by both North Korean prosecution and a combined crew of police, military government and anti-corruption authorities.

The senator and some of his inner circle face possible life incarceration, or even the death penalty, if found guilty. He is still prohibited from traveling.

According to Yonhap, prosecutors on Tuesday advised him to come up for questioning before Saturday over his military law bid, citing the trial.

According to the news agency, the joint research system also raided Yoon’s security system to get phone records.

An established told investigators that the system had earlier requested that the suspended leader appear to answer questions on Wednesday, but his company refused, according to an official.

According to them, Yoon was requested to appear at the office at 10am local time ( 9am, Singapore time ) for questioning on suspicion of insurrection and abuse of power.

But the call “was returned as’ undelivered'” by the political office, they said in a speech.

” The identity of the person who refused to accept it is mysterious”, they added.
