PM wants development on Thai fishing

According to the Defense Ministry, next Thursday may Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and a Myanmar national talk about easing the launch of four Thai fishing.

Maj Gen Thanathip Sawangsaeng, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry, quoted the Thai-Myanmar Township Border Committee ( TBC ). The four Thais are still being deported, according to Maj Gen Thanathip Sawangsaeng, a spokesman for the government.

He claimed that through discussions with Myanmar’s deputy prime minister and the country’s embassy to Thailand, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra learned the delay was caused by the legal processes involved in the process and that there are no other issues.

According to Maj Gen Thanathip, the PM informed the Thai embassy in Myanmar of her fears about the four men and said she wanted to have them freed as soon as possible.

According to Maj Gen Thanathip, Mr. Maris is scheduled to meet with Myanmar authorities on December 19 to discuss the crew members ‘ discharge.

He claimed that Phumtham Wechayachai, the minister of defense, had given instructions to the TBC and various organizations to work with the four people’s people to keep them informed of the situation.

The four Thai fishermen were reportedly fired on by a Myanmar navy vessel about 12 nautical miles ( 22 kilometers ) off the Koh Phayam coast on November 30 while 27 other fishermen from Myanmar were aboard the trawler Sor Charoenchai 8 and several other boats.

Following the incident, Myanmar authorities seized the arteries and the 31 people were detained. One staff member of a fish boat jumped into the water during the attack and died.

Recent reports from local sources said the gentlemen had been moved to a detention center in Kawthaung, in Myanmar, same Ranong.

The guys have remained in prison despite rumors that the four Thais had been freed by December 6.

Meanwhile, MP Julapong Yuket of the People’s Party ( PP ) list yesterday criticized the government for handling the incident and failing to take proactive steps.

Staff from the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the National Security Council were asked for information, according to Mr. Julapong, deputy head of the House committee on foreign affairs, but they were able to confirm whether the fishing vessels were in Thai or Myanmar waterways at the time of the event.

He added that while Thai authorities have not yet launched an investigation into the affair, they have largely relied on Myanmar’s investigation.

” If we don’t do our own research, how can we be certain about the alleged invasion? Furthermore, the research doesn’t change the security of the crew”, he said.

He demanded that the international secretary take a decisive stand.

Representatives from related organizations met with the commission yesterday to discuss how to handle the problem and how to handle the team if it was determined that they had broken any laws, according to PP list-MP Rangsiman Rome, the chairman of the House committee on national protection.

He noted that the situation has broader implications for Thailand’s position and reply to the incident as well as its safety as well.
