Court rejects complaint contending Rukchanok Srinork’s new content violated conditions of release.
Rukchanok Srinork, a People’s Party MP who is appealing views for lese-majeste and system crime, on Wednesday survived an attempt to have her loan revoked.
The Criminal Court on Dec 13 next year sentenced Ms Rukchanok to six years in prison, without suspension, for breaking Part 112 of the Criminal Code, the lese-majeste laws, and the Computer Crime Act.  ,
The judge granted her temporary launch while an appeal was pending. The MP was told to refrain from engaging in activities related to those she had been charged, and bail was set at 500, 000 rmb. She was given permission to carry on her tasks as an MP for Bangkok as a result.
She was found guilty by the judge for messages about vaccination allocations on her Twitter handle @nanaicez between July 18 and August 9, 2021, which included images of His Majesty the King.
One article accused the government of using Covid-19 vaccine distribution to promote the republic’s image, which the judge considered slander, it said in a statement.
Academic Thankawin Ratthanawatankul, a professor at the University of Oxford, filed a petition on October 28 to withdraw the criticism MP’s loan, alleging that her new Facebook posts about the monarchy violated the terms of her release.
The jury received Mr. Thankawin and Ms. Rukchanok’s testimony on November 26 and rendered its decision on Wednesday.
The defendant’s blog was an expression of a public opinion, according to the judges, and it did not violate her parole conditions.
Two problems raised
Ms. Rukchanok said the applicant had raised two problems following the ruling, her Instagram posts and her bail guarantee.
Chaithawat Tulathon, next president of the Move Forward Party, the president of the Women’s Party, posted bail on Ms Rukchanok’s representative last December. But, when he lost his MP position after Move Forward was dissolved, the principal was in question. According to Ms. Rukchanok, she finally placed money in the same amount that the judge had set aside to solve the issue.
The MP claimed that her Facebook posts included remarks about recruitment in general and comments about reports of an army conscript washing an officer’s wife’s underwear.
She defended her expression of opinion, arguing that she should never judge her opinions because she was obligated to express her opinions for the sake of the public interest as an elected member of the electorate.
In the 2023 general election, Ms. Rukchanok won the district of Bangkok, where Bang Bon, the home of the Ubamrung home, was located. She defeated Thin Ubamrung, the brother of former legislator Chalerm Ubamrung, by more than 20, 000 seats.
Another MPs face costs
Two additional People’s Party MPs are also facing lese-majeste situations. In connection with a 2021 protest calling for the transfer of political prisoners, Chonthicha Jangrew was given a two-year prison sentence in May of this year. She is free on parole until an appeal is filed.
In connection with his actions as the WeVo guard head in the anti-government protests in 2020 and 2021, Bangkok MP Piyarat” Toto” Jongthep is accused of three counts under Part 112.
After a jury in Kalasin declared that the evidence against him was insufficient, he won a unique conviction on one of the charges on October 11.
The Move Forward Party’s dissolution was announced by the Supreme Court earlier this year on the grounds that the proposed amendment to the lese-majeste rules posed a threat to the legal king. It was reborn as the Women’s Party.
