Chef-owner of Tanjong Pagar restaurant Hevel dies at age 33

Stefan Liau, the chef and owner of the modern-European cafe Hevel, has died at the age of 33.

On Saturday ( Dec. 7 ), the Tanjong Pagar restaurant posted the news to its Instagram page.

No words can express how devastated we are by Chef Stefan Liau’s immediate departure.

No cause of death was mentioned. &nbsp,

In the gift, Liau was remembered as” a style coach, a loving father, and a close friend who touched many lives with his heat, creativity, and real passion for those around him”.

Before launching Hevel, Liau served as the head chef of Mandala Club, a local secret individuals club, and honed his craft in various Michelin-starred restaurants across Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo, including Terra and Rhubarb Le Restaurant. &nbsp,

Hevel was inaugurated in November 2023 by Liau, and the eatery announced that it would continue operating until January 2025 in honor of his reputation.
