PDI-P’s Pramono Anung wins Jakarta governor race; rivals challenge results claiming low turnout, election fraud

Concerns FROM LOSING CANDIDATES&nbsp,

According to the Jakarta Post and the local media outlet Tempo, Mr. Ridwan’s group has begun assembling a constitutional group to challenge the Constitutional Court. This will result in a second round of voting. &nbsp,

” In light of everything that happened, we will use our right to file ( an election dispute ) with the Constitutional Court in hopes of finding justice”, Mr Ramdan Alamsyah, Ridwan-Suswono’s team coordinator said to the media after the announcement of the results, as quoted by the Jakarta Post.

At a press conference held on Sunday at Golkar’s company, Mr. Ahmad Riza Patria, the mind of the campaign staff, said,” We hope there will be a second round of voting in Jakarta. &nbsp,

Mr Ridwan is part of the Golkar party, which is also piece of Mr Prabowo’s partnership. &nbsp,

Additionally, according to local media reports, Mr. Ramdan and another Ridwan-Suswono campaign team members reportedly stormed out of the Sunday statement meeting. &nbsp,

Mr. Ramdan expressed his disappointment over the region’s generally low voter turnout, which he attributed to the failure of the local election system to send out invitations to citizens.

According to the Jakarta Post, the KPU statistics showed that voter turnout for Jakarta’s presidential elections was merely 57.5 per cent, as merely 4.72 million out of the 8.21 million registered voters cast a ballot. &nbsp,

Additionally, Mr. Ramdan claimed that his campaign team discovered evidence of vote tampering by election staff at a polling station in East Jakarta, and that he believes there may be even more admitted election fraud that went unnoticed. &nbsp,

When asked to object to KPU’s standard results, a representative for Mr. Dharma’s group also raised fears about voter turnout and ballot interfering. &nbsp,

” We consider the validity of today’s (election benefits ) to be unfair of the community as a whole”, Mr Anthony James Harahap told the media on Sunday. &nbsp,

Just Pramono-Rano’s representatives who were present to sign the documents to confirm the final results are rumored to have left the KPU news meeting. &nbsp,

The Dharma-Kun tent may still be contesting the findings at the Constitutional Court, according to The Jakarta Post. &nbsp,

The commissioner of Jakarta’s KPU Doddy Wijaya commented on the two losing camps ‘ objections, noting that 90 % of all election invitations had reached their intended recipients and that his team supported the accuracy of the final tally in the gubernatorial race despite the low voter turnout. &nbsp,

” We will wait for ( each camp to exercise ) their right to file a dispute at the court while we make ( our own ) preparations”, Mr Dody said on Sunday, as quoted by the Jakarta Post. &nbsp,

Research had previously shown that PDI-P and Anies-backed Pramono to have a little lead over Prabowo- and Jokowi-supported Ridwan Kamil. &nbsp,

Former leader Jokowi and political cheerful Mr. Anies both held the position, making the Jakarta chancellor position one of Indonesia’s most prominent positions. &nbsp,

Citizens and spectators had earlier predicted that the Jakarta race would pit Jokowi and Mr. Anies, with the two main political figures formally supporting these applicants prior to the Nov. 27 elections. &nbsp,

The state’s election is also regarded to be the most-watched, given its chair at the center of the region’s politics and economy.
