Chiung Yao: Top Chinese language writer dies in apparent suicide

Chiung Yao, possibly the world’s most popular Foreign language romance writer, has died in an apparent suicide.

The 86-year-old’s body was found in her home in New Taipei City on Wednesday, local press statement. Emergency service said she took her own life, according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency.

Chiung Yao began writing when he was 18 years old, and he published more than 60 books, many of which were adapted into films and TV shows, and remained a household name for centuries.

She also had a successful career as a writer and manufacturer. The TV play My Fair Princess, one of her most well-known plays, launched the careers of big name actors.

She was born Chen Che in Sichuan, China in 1938. Her real name is Chiung Yao.

A blog on her Instagram account on Wednesday read:” Goodbye, my loved ones. I consider it fortunate that I have encountered and known you in this career. Whether or not the article was published prior to or following her body’s discovery was unknown at the time.

Chiung Yao advised young people to” not give up on life easily” and to confront death only when “you live until 86 or 87” (you live until 86 or 87 ). She urged her supporters to not be depressed for her.

She hasn’t been engaged in a while. Nevertheless, she made headlines in 2017 when her dispute with her grandchildren over how to look after her then-ailing spouse became public.

Chiung Yao spent a portion of her early years in mainland China as her home moved across the nation during the Sino-Japanese War.

After the Chinese Communist Party seized power of the island, the family relocated to Taiwan in 1949.

Chiung Yao’s album tale Outside The Window, which was inspired by her own love story with her high school teacher, was enormously popular.

Her TV play My Fair Princess, a Cinderella tale set in the 18th century Qing Dynasty, is regarded as one of the most common Chinese-language episode shows of all time.

It launched the careers of big names in entertainment, including Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing. Fan would go on to become one of the biggest stars in China, until she was fined for tax fraud in 2018.

The show’s key performers, Ruby Lin and Zhao Wei, became home names to Chinese people.

Lin has continued to work as an artist and supplier in Taiwan. Wei has remained motionless in recent years following the arrest of her billionaire friend, Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, in Beijing.
