Phuket cabaret seen as lucrative cash cow

According to provincial governor Sophon Suwanrat, Phuket cabaret is a” soft power” of the province that can bring in over$ 200 million in revenue annually.

He stated after he presided over yesterday’s Simon Cabaret Phuket Show starting in the Kathu area that Phuket is experiencing a fantastic year of tourism.

” The number of visitors visiting us as of Oct 31 was 10.5 million people, generating a total income of 390 billion ringgit. For the year as a whole, we’re sure the tourism industry can produce 450 billion ringgit for the beach, almost the same number as for 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic”, he said.

Mr. Sophon cited local officials ‘ increased basic infrastructure to support commerce, including improved streets and mass transit systems. By the end of January, the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization intends to roll out 24 energy cars for locals and visitors.

” As for Simon Cabaret Phuket, it is already a form of soft power. It is quite unique to have such a company that has been operating for over 30 years, welcoming more than 600, 000 visitors from all over the globe”, he said.

With an entry festival set for December 8 through December 10 in Patong Beach, Mr. Sophon stated that the island state is prepared for the high season.

Pornthep Rouyrin, vice chair of Phuket Simon Cabaret, said it started in Pattaya, Chon Buri.

” My parents expanded it to a full-fledged transgender show theatre. They purchased land in Patong to create the Simon Cabaret Phuket Theatre because they believed Phuket was a holiday state similar to Pattaya. It was opened in 1991, and now, 33 years afterwards, it stands as the first theater in Phuket”, he said.
