In an effort to transform Thailand into a local education hub, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation will encourage prestigious universities from abroad to campus there.
The minister, Supamas Isarabhakdi, said yesterday that Thailand has great potential as a local education hub according to some excellent advantages, including a fair cost of living, great hospitality, great food, and good logistics.
She claimed that regulations that restrict the number of foreign students attending universities in many nations, including those in the UK and Singapore, may increase the chances for universities to expand their campuses overseas, including Thailand.
Next month, the department said it will look into possible collaborations with institutes in the UK, Australia, and China.
” We have seen good potential for their expansion into Thailand,” he said. More information will be further discussed. If successful, this may help generate more income for the state”, she said.
She added that the ministry had adopt global curriculums and update all demonstration schools under its purview.
She claimed that the plan may give families who want their children to attend international schools with more choices.
The work is part of the agency’s policy to improve the country’s education system, she said.
