Kanchanaburi seeks reopening of border pass

Leaders from provincial government declare the Ban Phu Nam Ron area to be secure.

To promote cross-border business, work, and purchase between Thailand and Myanmar, officials in Kanchanaburi state hope the Ban Phu Nam Ron border move will be reopened by the new year.

They point out that there have n’t been any reported conflicts on the Myanmar side, and that the area around the border crossing is currently safe. Immigration and customs services in Kanchanaburi are well-prepared for operations, paving the way for easy administration, said Bandit Promthong, commander of the Kanchanaburi statewide office.

At a recent conference with representatives from various firms, including immigration, traditions, and military officials, municipal officials made the request to resume the cross.

According to Mr. Bandit, a formal proposal has been submitted to the Interior Ministry, which then reviews it forwarded to the National Security Council ( NSC ) and the ministry of foreign affairs for talks with Myanmar.

According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may work with the Myanmar authorities to ensure their preparation and health close to the border, and the NSC is also considering the demand.

The Ban Phu Nam Ron boundary pass, which is connected to the Ban Tiki checkpoint in Myanmar and located in the tambon Ban Kao district, is regarded as a proper part of the western province because it is a major financial hub with a lot of potential for investment.

The economic zone’s cross-border commerce, tourism, and jobs would all benefit considerably with the beginning of the border crossing. He added that billion-dollar assets are anticipated to be made as well.

Illegal silver me

In a related development, Kanchanaburi’s Thong Pha Phum National Park officials increased border guards in response to illegal silver mining activities in protected places.

A 14-rai page that had been fraudulently excavated for gold was discovered during a joint operation that was conducted from November 23 through November 24. Three suspects were arrested, including two Karen people and one Thai federal from Kanchanaburi, while people fled across the Myanmar border.

One of the arrested suspects ‘ mobile telephones had images of about 20 people engaging in mine, including a guy who donned soldier uniform and was apprehending the suspects while the staff were being guarded.

Under forest and national area laws, the suspects are accused of using unapproved land and causing environmental damage, in addition to six others.

Working with police and military products to stop further illegal activity, park authorities have increased security along border crossings.
